BISON/CAMPUS and GDOC  e-accounts

As a Gallaudet graduate student, you will be using two e-accounts: 

1. Bison/CAMPUS e-account (your email and Bison student records)

2. GDOC e-account (Blackboard for your course work)

These are two separate accounts with two different passwords. If you want to use the same password for both systems, you can change your GDOC password to be the same as your Bison/Campus password.  An explanation on how to change your password follows.  For now, though, please read below about the difference between the Bison/Campus e-account and the GDOC e-account.

1. Bison/CAMPUS e-account (your email and Bison student records)

Your Bison/Campus e-account gives you access to Bison student records, electronic mail, and on campus the laboratory computers, dormitory and campus wireless networks. Anyone at Gallaudet University who wishes to contact you will use your campus email account.  For example, if the Registrar, Admissions, or the Library need to contact you, they will use your Gallaudet Bison/Campus email account. 

Your Bison/Campus email account will look like this:  firstname.lastname@gallaudet.edu

For example, my Gallaudet Bison/Campus email account is: amy.wilson@gallaudet.edu

If you have not been sent a password yet, or if you want to change your password, please do the following:

1. Go to http://campusweb.gallaudet.edu
2. Click on GALLAUDET STUDENT PASSWORD RESET.
3. Enter your Gallaudet email address, date of birth, the last four digits of your Student ID number (located in the email which is attached to this document), and your new password.
4. Click on CHANGE PASSWORD.
5. Now you can enter your email account anytime through http://mail.gallaudet.edu.

Contact password@gallaudet.edu if you have problems resetting your password.

Bison

You now have access to the Bison/Campus email account that your instructors, other students, and others at Gallaudet will use to contact you.

You also now have access to BISON student records account where you can see your student records, class roster, and student financial account information. Go check out the Bison student records homepage, and remember to use the same password that you use for your Gallaudet email.  Here at Bison student records, you will also see your unique Bison identification number.  Please make sure that you know your Bison identification number. Forwarding your Gallaudet email to another personal account.

Some students prefer to use another email account that they access more often than their Gallaudet Bison/Campus account.  For example, you may have a hotmail or AOL account that you look at often and don't want to go to your Gallaudet Bison/Campus email account. 

You can set up your incoming messages from your Gallaudet Bison/Campus account  to automatically go to your preferred hotmail, yahoo, AOL, or any other personal address.  To do that:

1.   Once you are in your Gallaudet email, click on PREFERENCES, along the left column.

2.   Click on MAIL (WITHIN THE PREFERENCES MENU).

3.   Scroll down until you see AUTO-FORWARD.          

4.   Check the box FORWARD INCOMING MAIL.

5.  Type in the email address you want it forwarded to (ex.: yahoo.com).

6.   If you will read you Gallaudet email account, click “KEEP A COPY OF FORWARDED MESSAGES.

7.   Click SAVE CHANGES.

2. GDOC e-account (Blackboard for your coursework)

Your second e-account is GDOC which is used for My.Gallaudet.Edu (your online courses) and the Help Desk.

If you registered for classes in Spring, 2006, you already have a GDOC account.  If you will be a student for the first time this coming Fall, 2006, after you register for courses, a "Welcome to GDOC" message will be sent to your new Gallaudet Bison/Campus email address and to your home email if you provided one.  (remember, your GDOC e-account is different than your Bison/Campus e-account).  The Welcome to GDOC message will provide your account name and password and instructions on how to access your course.  With GDOC, you will be able to log on to your online courses for the first year of your studies.

With GDOC you can access the campus web portal known as “my.gallaudet.edu”, a personalized website that is set up for information sharing and collaboration within the Gallaudet community and for your online courses.  Go check it out now: http://my.gallaudet.edu  Remember to use your GDOC password and NOT your Bison/Campus password.

If you can’t access your GDOC account, or you haven't received information through your Gallaudet Bison/Campus email account concerning GDOC, please submit a request at http://helpdesk.gallaudet.edu.  You must know your 7-digit Bison ID number that you found at your Bison account at http://bison.gallaudet.edu.

If you would like to change the password that you were given, you may request a new GDOC password at http://passwords.gallaudet.edu. 

If needed, please submit any technology service requests via http://helpdesk.gallaudet.edu/campus (using your GDOC username and password).  From campus email addresses, you can also send requests via email to helpdesk@gallaudet.edu.
